Israel Plans Opening Border To Tourists Next Month

Health Ministry is planning to allow foreign tourists of ‘green’ countries to arrive in Israel by the end of August

Health Ministry associate director-general Prof. Itamar Grotto told the Knesset State Control Committee today that the Health Ministry will present a plan to reopen Israel’s borders to non-Israeli passport holders by the end of August or the beginning of next month. Israel’s borders have been closed to foreign citizens since mid-March, the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.

On Monday the Ministry of Health listed 20 ‘green’ countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Italy, Jordan, Latvia, Lithuania, New Zealand, Slovenia, and the UK.

The list is updating every two weeks.

Israelis returning from green countries are no longer required to undergo 14-days isolation.
