Srinagar: Three terrorists were killed in Pulwama, Jammu Kashmir in an encounter by police on Wednesday.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Tikken area of Pulwama district in the early hours of the day on receiving information about the presence of terrorists there, a police official said.
The search operation turned into an encounter after the security forces were fired upon.
The forces retaliated with gunfire and as of now, the operation is still underway. The slain terrorists are yet to be identified.
A civilian also got injured during the encounter.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, there was a grenade attack at Singhpora in the Pattan area which injured 3 civilians.
The increased attacks by ultras are an effort to disrupt the Jammu and Kashmir District Development Council (DDC) elections.
These elections are being held in eight phases and will be over on December 19. These polls are crucial as they are the first ones to held after the abrogation of Article 370.
